Sangha Walk – Marlborough – Sunday 16th October 2016
At the core group meeting this quarter we discussed creating more opportunities for us to get together as a Sangha outside of the Thursday meeting. One idea we came up with was meeting for a short walk every 6 weeks or so.
Savernake seems a great spot for this as it is very relaxing and nourishing to walk amongst some of the ancient trees spotting the odd deer or squirrel as you go along.
The plan for the first walk is to meet at 10:00am on Sunday 16th October. We will meet right in the centre of the forest at the intersection of the Grand Avenue and Great Lodge Drive. I’ve attached some maps to help you find it. You get there by taking the A4 out of Marlborough towards Hungerford and then turning right into Grand Avenue just after the hospital. You continue down Grand Avenue for just over a mile until you come to the intersection of the main roads crossing the forest and then find a place to park. I will hopefully be there just before 10 so you can look out for me.
I would expect the walk to take 90 mins to two hours maximum. The terrain is very muddy, boggy and wet in places so you would definitely need some waterproof boots or equivalent and probably some waterproof clothing in case of rain 🙂
We will walk mindfully in silence for the first 15-20 minutes to come home to the beauty of our surroundings. The rest of the time we can use to chat informally.
Do let me know by email or text (07545 583148) if you plan to join us so that we can wait for you before we get started.
A Lotus for you All
